A Devi Puja at home can be a simple, quiet way to prepare a meditation space with care, gratitude and attention. This visual guide follows six gentle steps using a framed meditation photo, flowers, incense and a candle.
What you will need
- A glass-framed meditation photo
- Rose water and cotton wool
- Non-alcoholic perfume oil and a small cotton ball
- An incense stick and holder
- A candle, lighter and stable candle stand
- Fresh white, red or pink flower petals and a small porcelain bowl
Set the items on a clean, steady table. Please use incense and candles carefully and never leave a flame unattended.
1. Clean the meditation photo

Moisten a piece of cotton wool with a little rose water and gently clean the glass of the meditation photo.
2. Apply perfume oil to the hands in the photo

Place a small amount of non-alcoholic perfume oil on a cotton ball. With a light touch, apply it to both hands in the photo.
3. Offer incense

Light the incense stick and describe a gentle horseshoe shape over the photo three times. Then place the incense in its holder beside the photo.
4. Offer a candle

Light the candle and make the same horseshoe-shaped offering over the photo three times. Place it securely in a candle stand near the photo.
5. Offer flower petals

Keep the petals in the small bowl. Take several small handfuls and sprinkle them in front of the photo as an offering.
6. Sit quietly and meditate

Sit comfortably in front of the meditation photo and meditate quietly for 10–15 minutes. Let the practice end with a few peaceful moments of stillness.
A simple puja does not need to be elaborate: the care, attention and sincerity brought to each step are what matter most.
